Clearing the Air
With all the restless nights, nightmares, and general feelings of anxiety lately, I was inspired by Sacred Suzie to join her in cleansing the dark energy from myself and my house. Yesterday was the new moon, which was a good time for performing this kind of ritual. I didn't have any clue what to do, but her blog had several good ideas and I decided to just go with whatever felt right to me.
I didn't have time to start anything before work, but after getting home, getting groceries, and eating dinner I got things started. My husband and I actually found time to do a quick yoga session with our yoga DVD. It felt s-o-o-o-o-o good! I always feel lighter and happier after a yoga session.
Then, he went off to work/play on his computer and I started the rest of my ritual. I filled a bowl with vinegar and put it in the kitchen to collect the negative energy. Then I started a salt bath for myself. I lit a white candle to burn during the bath and then used it later on for my ritual as well. It was the perfect kind of bath for me! I am not normally a bather. I shower, but don't bath. If I want to wash my hair and body then I need a shower. But, with this kind of bath there was no pressure to shampoo and condition my hair and I didn't even feel like I had to spend a certain amount of time soaking and relaxing. I know a lot of people like to sit and relax in the bath, but I have a very hard time sitting still without purpose. This bath totally had a purpose for me since I was focusing on banishing the dark energy and surrounding myself with light. It felt great! I may just be able to get through my enormous canister of bath salts after all!
After I dried off with a nice fresh towel and put on clean and fresh clothes (this was difficult since it was a laundry day and most of my cool comfortable clothes were in some stage of being washed). I've recently started using 'Bio-Oil' on my psoriasis so I then dabbed the oil on all the problem areas. It felt sort of like an anointing process.
Then I took my candle and went to each room and couldn't really think of what to say, so I just imagined myself cleaning away the negative energy and blessing each room with clean white light. Next time I think I might bring along our little chime since the ring is so clear and pure. It'll just take a bit of juggling since you need a little mallet to strike it. Once the whole house was done, I emptied the bowl of vinegar and blew out the candle.
I feel good today since it feels like I'm doing something to help me feel better. I find doing things like this also make me more mindful that I have the power to control how I feel and the direction in my life. I'm not sure if it was the yoga or just the result of a very busy day but I felt so tired last night it was much easier to fall asleep. The anxiety and restlessness that I had before was gone. Of course, we were having a summer storm that blew away the heat, so that might have helped too. Oh well, whatever the cause, I'm thankful for the deep sleep!

Yay! I am doing a little dance of joy for you my friend! You did it perfectly, you really did and isn't amazing how much better you feel? A symbolic gesture like this can change how you feel and the things that happen to you. I am so glad you participated and are feeling so much better. Woohoo!
I just loved reading the description of your ritual. It's amazing how doing things with intention can really shift our energies.
Here's to beautiful, fresh, loving energy replacing the dark!
yay for you!
yes for great intentions and a double yay for visualization and triple for manifestation ;-)
p.s. thank you for your frienship and your blog, too.
